Benefits of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are one of the most effective treatments in modern beauty medicine that naturally regenerates the skin, solves skin problems, and rejuvenates it. Due to the benefits of chemical peels, the interest is rapidly growing in our country, as well as in aesthetic clinics around the world.

Many of our clients ask us if light peeling, regular cleansing in the morning and evening and the right choice of creams and serums are enough to clear the skin leaving it glowing and smooth. Creams and serums only act on the surface of the skin; that "dead" layer of the skin that prevents the active substances from penetrating the deeper layers of the skin. This means that even though they contain active substances, your creams and serums cannot reach the deeper layers of the skin, where these substances are most needed. This is where chemical peels come into play.

How do Chemical peels work?

Chemical peels accelerate the deep exfoliation of the skin, which is caused by chemical agents applied to the skin by your professionally trained esthetician, specifically designed to speed up cell regeneration. This procedure has a dual function, in addition to removing the surface layers of the skin, these agents lead to the intense release of cytokines, growth factors and collagen synthesis, which intensively rejuvenates the skin. Chemical peels show great results when we want to refresh and rejuvenate our skin and solve problems such as acne, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, clogged pores, and reduce the bacteria that cause acne. This means that chemical peels are quite a powerful tool that effectively solves skin problems.

Examination and treatment!

Like most treatments and procedures performed at Touch of Genius, chemical peels begin with an examination by our trusted estheticians. We begin by determining the problem of the skin, your main concerns with your skin, as well as its quality. Based on the examination itself, the esthetician decides which acids and in what concentrations the chemical peel will be performed on the skin. This procedure is mostly done with lactic acid, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid. It is important to note that this procedure is painless and there may be short-term skin burning that is transient and not uncomfortable for patients. In the following days after the treatment, peeling of the skin may occur, which is completely normal, because the skin regenerates and it is especially important to use a high sun protection factor in the form of a cream, regardless of the season, as well as follow your personalized home care regime prescribed to you by your esthetician.

What types of chemical peels are there?

  • Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) as glycolic, lactic, mandelic, citric, and tartaric acids, which is the mildest chemical peel suitable for the treatment of fine lines, dry rough skin, hyperpigmentation, and acne in all skin types.

  • Beta-hydroxy acids (BHA) as salicylic acid that penetrates deeper into the pores of AHA acids and is suitable for the treatment of oily skin and acne-prone skin.

  • Jessner peeling is a combination of 14% salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol in ethanol base and is great for skin rejuvenation.
